The Schola Foundation

The Schola Foundation was established in 1975 by a group of families who had the spirit of Loyola Catholic School in their hearts. Their commitment to Catholic education has benefited students of Loyola for many years and it will continue to do so for years to come. The Schola Foundation supports Loyola Catholic School through its Endowment Program. Since 1975 over 40 endowments have been established and efforts continue to establish new endowments in order to ensure long-term financial support for families who attend Loyola Catholic School.

 

The Schola Board of Directors meets regularly to review the status of current endowments and to establish new endowments. With the leadership and guidance of the Schola Board and Loyola President Bette Blaisdell, LCS Director of Advancement Jesse Hicks assists families who have already created Schola Foundation Endowments, as well as families who would like to create new endowments with The Schola Foundation. Major Gifts
Above and beyond Loyola Catholic School’s need for yearly operating support is the need to plan for the school’s long-term financial and academic vitality. The Schola Foundation’s Endowment Program is the school’s investment account. It is made of gifts from generous donors and the investment growth and earnings. Donor contributions are carefully invested and managed according to policies set by the Finance Committee of the Schola Foundation Board. Major gifts can be either made directly to Loyola Catholic School or to one The Schola Foundation’s Endowed Funds. You can also start your own endowment. (See list of the endowments included below.)

 

Planned Gifts
As a part of an overall estate or financial plan, planned gifts can take several forms, all of which have unique benefits to donors and to Loyola Catholic School. Examples include bequests of cash, securities or real property; qualified retirement plan benefits; remainder interest in a personal residence, farm, or vacation property; charitable trusts created in lifetime or by will, or provided as charitable lead trust or charitable remainder trust; and life insurance proceeds. Planned gifts benefit the financial health and academic vitality of the school and, at the same time, are beneficial to you the donor.

Schola Foundation Endowments

*	Abdo Family Scholarship Fund benefits students whose parents immigrated to the United States and are in need of tuition assistance.
*	Albert Fischer Fund provides funds for educational and extracurricular activities, including improving and maintaining athletic facilities.
*	Allie & Louise Bohnert Memorial Scholarship Fund benefits girl's soccer, boy's football, girl's basketball and boy's basketball participants.
*	Ann Bresnan Memorial Scholarship Fund is designed to help children of single parent families with tuition assistance, enabling these students to attend LCS.
*	Bernadette & Maria Goettl Family Scholarship Fund benefits Loyola sophomores and juniors who participate in Drama and Speech and financial need.
*	Betty Jo & Charles Dorn Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to students for whom financial aid is essential in order to permit them to attend LCS.
*	Clara and John Haefner Memorial Scholarship Fund benefits LCS students who reach a reasonable level of academic achievement, who are interested in music and who need financial assistance.
*	Class of 1988 Lori Tacheny Endowment, to benefit 2 students.  One student, currently enrolled in Loyola and one for a graduating student who has performed and served the speech team of Loyola during their time at the school.
*	Class of 2008 Endowment, for facility needs that will benefit Loyola students currently enrolled in the school system.
*	Coach Bill Steiner Memorial Fund benefits boys and girls involved in football, boy's basketball, girl's basketball, track and baseball.
*	Craig Smasal Scholarship Award helps with tuition payments at Loyola for a male and female junior who have displayed a good Christian attitude and good citizenship.
*	Cyril Biehn Baseball Scholarship Fund is awarded to a freshman, sophomore or junior Loyola baseball player who displays a passion for baseball, respects coaches, teammates and officials and who puts his team above personal accomplishments.
*	Daniel J. Coughlan Memorial Scholarship Fund benefits immigrant students enrolled at LCS with financial needs.
*	Earl and Audrey Shamp Family Educational Fund is intended for the physical plant needs of LCS.
*	Eileen & Walter Duval Memorial Scholarship Fund, benefiting Loyola Catholic School Students.
*	Father Ed Ardolf Endowment Fund provides tuition assistance for Holy Rosary Parish children to attend LCS.
*	First National Bank Minnesota Scholarship Fund.
*	Gertrude Sheehan Bates Scholarship Fund benefits students enrolled at Loyola who participate in Loyola Campus Ministry mission trips.
*	Inez Hoey, SSND, Fund provides financial assistance to a student who excels in English.
*	Inez Hoey, SSND, Staff Award benefits Loyola Staff Members.
*	Jane Funfsinn Memorial Scholarship Fund provides tuition assistance to a 4th grade student at LCS.
*	Jim and Patricia Hayes Family Endowment, awarded to students for whom financial aid is essential to attend LCS.
*	Joe Lyons Memorial Scholarship Fund benefits a Loyola junior of limited financial resources who is willing to make Loyola a better place. This fund is supported annually with proceeds from the "Players Pool" at the Loyola Golf Classic.
*	Joel Reinbold Memorial Scholarship benefits a student at LCS who excels in jazz band as a first priority, and can extend to a band student if there is not a jazz band student that meets criteria.
*	John Kruetzer Memorial Endowment Fund, benefiting students for whom financial aid is essential to attend LCS.
*	Len & Charlene Ubl Family Scholarship Fund benefits 7th grade students who work to their ability in school, are involved in their school and church community, are active in extra-curricular school activities, not necessarily sports, and who show respect for fellow students and teachers.
*	Loyola Alumni Basketball Fund benefits deserving students with financial needs interested in participating in varsity basketball at Loyola. This fund is supported annually by proceeds from the Loyola Alumni Basketball Tournament.
*	Maloney Family Endowment, benefiting LSC Students for who financial need is essential to attend Loyola.
*	Marilyn and Ken Berg Scholarship benefits Loyola Catholic School students.
*	Mary Donald Miller, SSND, Scholarship Fund benefits students attending Fitzgerald Middle School who demonstrate financial need.
*	Neil Votca Scholarship Fund, benefits students going into Kindergarten who would be unable financlally to attend LCS.
*	Norma Christiansen Endowment, benefiting a student who exhibits their faith,  exemplary effort in the classroom and Loyola community, but is NOT necessarily the top Student, and financial need is not a pre-requirement
*	Patricia and Douglas Johnson Religious & Spiritual Fund benefits religious studies and spiritual life at LCS.
*	Paul Miler Award is given annually to a Loyola student who has overcome obstacles to succeed in school.
*	Regina Ecker Fund, established by Dr. John W. Ryan for LCS students with financial need who are involved in 1) journalism, or 2) student theater and drama productions at LCS.
*	Rene "Fritz" Maes Family Memorial Scholarship offers an athletic or fine arts scholarship to an academically eligible student who is unable to afford activities fees.
*	Reyerson – Hendley Scholarship benefits LCS students who would be unable financially to attend LCS.
*	Richard & Dolores Michels Scholarship Fund benefits Loyola seniors who are in need of tuition assistance and who participate in extra-curricular school activities.
*	Richard Huerkamp Memorial Scholarship Fund benefits a Loyola sophomore interested in music.
*	Richard S. & Frances M. Landwehr Family Scholarship Fund allows any student who has the desire and/or ability to enjoy the benefits of team-building and individual success as a member of the Loyola Track & Field team.
*	Robert and Lois Schmitz Fund benefits Loyola Catholic School band students who express financial need.
*	Robert H. Conley, MD Endowment Fund is awarded annually to a Loyola senior who maintained a 3.4 GPA, has aspirations to attend college and who has a demonstrated financial need.
*	Rose & Sal Frederick Family Music Fund benefits the music programs at Loyola High School and LCS by encouraging students with financial needs to participate in LCS music programs.
*	Rotchadl Scholarship Endowment Fund benefitc students at LCS and their ability to participate in extracurricular activities available here. Activities include but are not limited to Athletics, Band, Choir, Speech, and Theatre.
*	Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church Scholarship is awarded annually to a prospective first grade student and ninth grade student at LCS. The scholarship recipient will demonstrate financial need, scholastic ability and a degree of involvement in the St. Joseph the Worker Parish by the student and/or his or her parents.
*	Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church Tuition Endowment Fund,
*	Sheehan Family Fund benefits LCS students involved in boy's football, girl's softball and music with scholarship and activity fee assistance.
*	Shirley & Joseph Hirt Family Fund benefits boys and girls wishing to attend the elementary grades of Kindergarten through 5th grade at LCS and who demonstrate financial need.
*	Tanya Stier/Nicholas Frederick Memorial Scholarship Fund makes it possible for 2nd grade students to attend LCS.
*	Teresa Gerteisen Scholarship Award is awarded to an LCS junior who exhibits interest in Math and Accounting.
*	Teresa Reyerson Memorial Professional Enhancement Endowment Fund is established for staff enhancement, and awarded to staff wishing to develop their professional skills.
*	Thom Family Scholarship benefits K-5th grade students interested in attending LCS.
*	Victor Shalhoob Memorial Scholarship Fund benefits a member of the LCS varsity baseball team to have part of his activity fee paid.
*	W.A. (Bill) Brielmaier Family Scholarship Fund benefits LCS student athletes participating in football who show interest in Math and Science.
